Shimmer and holo. That’s what I’ve decided to hunt for nowadays. Not a pure, linear holo, which I still love, but a gentle holo shimmer that adds just a touch of magic to a polish. And as for shimmer, a warm glow that just makes a polish that much more special. You can probably say this stems from Enchanted Polish. Anyways, I went browse crazy online, on Google, Instagram and Etsy then came across this vendor on Etsy.
Starlight Polish (click here to go to their store!) was sort of like opening a treasure chest for me. I hadn’t ever heard of the brand, and I was immediately enamored with what I saw. Shimmers! Shifty shimmers! And holos 😀 I was so excited.
After browsing through all of the products, I decided on which ones I wanted to purchase and pretty promptly bought them.
I bought 3 sets, and then one of her other polishes. Issa, the owner and creator of the shop also super kindly sent me her Holo Top Coat to try out as well, so I ended up with 11 AMAZING polishes. In the list right below, I’ve organized them by the sets, but in the photos I’ve organized them by name. Once you read through it more, it’ll make more sense.
  • Dragon ($10/15ml, or $4.50/5ml) – firey orange red shimmer that shifts to a gold and then green and then turquoise in a clear base. Just on it’s own, you get a really beautiful warm golden orange. Layered over black, as with Phoenix and Unicorn, the shimmer becomes MUCH more intense.
  • Phoenix ($10/15ml, or $4.50/5ml) – vivid red shimmer that shifts to an orange, then gold, then green in a clear base. Just viewing it on it’s own, the reddish orange tone is the strongest.
  • Unicorn ($10/15ml, or $4.50/5ml) – bright almost yellowish green shimmer that shifts to a super vivid grass green, then towards the turquoise spectrum through to a bright primary blue. The green shimmer is probably the strongest when viewing on it’s own but the color shift is super strong with this one.
  • Dragon Scales ($11.50/15ml, or $5.25/5ml) – deep forest green with the same shimmer as Dragon. The formula is a jelly. It’s opaque in 3 coats, but the formula isn’t too thick so it doesn’t go too sticky on the nail. Just in regular viewing (not at specific angles, or over other polishes), the orange shimmer comes out super strong against the green base.
  • Phoenix Feathers ($11.50/15ml, or $5.25/5ml) – reddish purple jelly base with the same shimmer as Phoenix. With one coat, it looks very purple, but as you layer it, the shimmer sort of blends with the base to make it look almost like a reddish brown on the nail. The red shimmer comes out the strongest in this polish.
  • Unicorn Tears ($11.50/15ml, or $5.25/5ml) – grape candy like jelly base with a ridiculously strong shimmer the same as Unicorn. This is the first polish that I picked out to use because it’s fantastic. The contrast of the bright green shimmer, which is strongest against the base in regular viewing, with the purple base is so glowy and magical. It’s really quite awesome.
  • Dragon Breath ($16.00/15ml, or $6.50/5ml) – slight teal turquoise base with a partially speckled linear holo. Mixed in is a subtle amount of the same shimmer that you see in Dragon. This stuff is crazy. So so pretty! The formula is great amongst this and the other holos and is opaque in 2 coats. This doesn’t have a slight jelly formula like some holos can have, it’d definitely got an opaque base.
  • Phoenix Fire  ($16.00/15ml, or $6.50/5ml) – berry toned purple base with a partially speckled linear holo. The shimmer from Phoenix is subtly in there as well.
  • Unicorn Spell ($16.00/15ml, or $6.50/5ml) – cool toned bluish purple base with a partially speckled linear holo. The shimmer from Unicorn is softly mixed in, just like Dragon Breath and Phoenix Fire.
  • Sunshine ($7.00/15ml, or $3.00/5ml) – clear base with a bright, sunny gold fleck like shimmer. The shimmer is really dense and very sparkly, and reminds me a lot of the gold Lorac 3d Liquid Lustre in nail polish form.
  • Starlight ($10.00/15ml, or $4.50/5ml) – there are two holo top coats, and this is the holo with the bigger speckle. The holo is much brighter and stronger than Starshine, which is slightly softer. This layers great over other polishes, but if you want to use it on it’s own, it layers pretty well in three coats to have a very full, holographic look on the nail.

The formula for all of them are smooth, easy to apply and a perfect consistency. They’re not too thick and not too thin. They all layer quite well and dry down pretty glossy.
Starlight Polishes retail between $8 and $16, depending on what you purchase. Above, I listed all the prices of the polishes in the full 15ml size and the mini 5ml size. You can also purchase the polishes in sets, as I mentioned before. The set of Dragon, Phoenix and Unicorn, in full size, is $27. Dragon Scales, Phoenix Feathers and Unicorn tears, in full size as a set retails for $32. Dragon Breath, Phoenix Fire and Unicorn Spell as a set in full size retails for $45. You can also purchase each set in mini size and they retail for $12, $14 and $17.50 each, respectively.
Again, the link to her store is up above, so go check her out!
The polishes are all really great quality, and I totally, totally recommend them. If you live in the continental US, the shipping is pretty fast as well. I live in California and received my polishes within 5 business days (she is located in Colorado).
Now, for the pictures 😀
