In the past month, the drugstore has had a lot of great releases. Thinking back on it, the majority of them were lip product releases. L’Oreal had their Aqua Lip Lacquers, Cover Girl had their jumbo sticks, and Maybelline had another release with their Vivid Lipsticks
This is Maybelline’s other release, a new line of lipsticks called the Color Whispers. This seems to be Maybelline’s version of the Revlon Lip Butters. Just as a sidenote – Revlon just released 4 new shades to their Lip Butter line. I haven’t found them yet, but apparently they’ve been spotted at Ulta and Target. I think I may have to go venture out and find them soon 🙂
Originally I saw the display for the Color Whispers and din’t think anything of them. I was totally sucked in by the Vivids display, which was right next to it, and I didn’t want to purchase any of the Color Whispers since they seemed to all be sort of neutral. I also didn’t really need any more neutral colors. Which now that I think of it, was something I should have stuck to but am glad I didn’t because I really do like these.
The formula for these is really similar to the Revlon Lip Butters. They’re soft and pigmented with a natural gloss to them. All three that I bought glided on pretty well and felt comfortable on the lips.
There are about 8 or 10 shades available – for the time being I have 3. Unfortunately people always seem to open and touch all the products in my drugstores so these were the only 3 that were truly untouched.
I bought:
  • 50 Cherry On Top – cool berry toned color with red undertones. It definitely doesn’t swatch as red as it looks in the tube.
  • 65 Pink Possibilities – light warm toned pink. This one doesn’t swatch as brightly as it looks in the tube.
  • 80 Made-It Mauve – sheer wine tone. This has slightly more brown than purple tones. This would be great for those that want to start venturing into dark colors but just want to dip their toes in.

Hopefully I can find some of the other colors soon since I have so far really liked these. They’ve stayed on for a good 4 hours before I needed to reapply, which is the same wear that I get from the Revlon Lip Butters.

Each Color Whisper is available at all drugstores and retails for about $7 to $8 each.
