I think I’ve found my new favorite hair serum 😀
I’ve tried… a LOT of hair serums, and I’ve actually liked all of them, really I have, but I do think this is one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite of the bunch.
Just to give you a glimpse of what I’ve used: Moroccan Oil, Josie Maran Argan Oil, Emtage Hair Serum, Organix Macadamia Hair Oil, Macadamia Nut Hair Oil, plus some random samples here and there. Of that list, my favorites were probably the Josie Maran, Emtage and Macadamia Nut (not the Organix) oils. They gave the best results and nourished the best in the long term.
This product I saw on Sephora while I was browsing. I’ve used a few of Bumble and Bumble’s hair products, with great and not so great results. They’re pricey, and are considered a luxury or salon brand, and I was actually wondering when they were going to join in on the hair serum wagon.
It retails for $38, so it’s pretty much on the same price range as Moroccan Oil. It comes packaged in a flourescent orange pastic bottle with a pump.
The oil itself is a clear oil and is unscented. The texture is on the lighter side. The Organix is the thickest of the oils in that list, and at room temperature the Emtage is the lightest. This is very much like the Josie Maran in texture… light and easy to use. It absorbes into hair pretty quickly and doesn’t linger that much on your hands after you apply it.
You can apply it to your hair either wet or dry. It doesn’t feel oily on your hair when you apply it when it’s dry either, which is a super plus for me. It gives your hair a noticeable shine, and it doesn’t feel like there’s oil in your hair, which is something that all the other products I’ve used has done, even if very slightly like the Emtage Hair Oil.
I think this is mostly supposed to be a hair protectant versus a hair nourishment system – the description on the back of the bottle hints much more at using it before heat styling than really using it for a treatment. I guess it does help but whenever I heat style I use a hair protectant like the Tres Semme anyways so I can’t speak to whether it’s really useful for that or not.
My favorite part of this has to be that it gives noticeable, non-residue shine. Before I cut the ends of my hair, right at the end of a hot summer, my hair was brutally dry at the ends and whenever I used this product all of a sudden my hair never had tangles and was super healthy looking.
If you have the budget for it, I totally recommend this product! Again, it is on the pricier side but would be worth splurging or saving for.

  1. I think it's great that it nourishes plus acts as a heat protectant, because this was exactly what I look for in hair products! This seems like it's worth the money. 🙂 Great review, I'll have to check this out!
