Along with a new liquid liner, a new mascara was on my agenda on my last trip to the drugstore. I personally prefer lengthening mascaras to volumizing or curling mascaras so I typically go out and seek those, especially if there’s a waterproof formula.
Usually I just go and pick up my go to drugstore mascara, the Covergirl Eye Exacts mascara in their waterproof formula. This time around I wanted to try something different, so I headed over to the Maybelline aisle because in general, they have the most well-reviewed assortment of mascaras to choose from.
The Illegal Length was the most advertised lengthening mascara that I had recently seen, in the drugstore in the stands as well as in magazines. It claims to use fiber extensions – I have no idea what that means so I sort of just bought it anyways. Again, I don’t really read the claims on the packaging, I just look for the blackest color and the fact that it’s waterproof.
As for the waterproof-ness of this product? It’s SUPER waterproof. As in, even with a makeup wipe and with makeup remover, I used the Lancome Bi-Facil, it was still pretty heavily on my lashes. It’s difficult to remove, and requires a bit of tugging.
I liked the results of the mascara, but the removal was a pain so I don’t think I’ll purchase it again, at least not for the purpose of having a waterproof mascara. I might try the regular formula but I don’t really know. I’d rather try another type of mascara instead.
These retail for about $7 or $8 at all drugstores.
