Today in my mailbox was a little box waiting for me from Mac. I practically ran up the hill to photograph and swatch because I knew inside would be my new Mac Viva Glam products.
This year, Mac paired up with Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin (who’s suddenly relevant again…. yes!) to create two lip products as part of their Viva Glam line, where 100% of the proceeds from all products sold goes to support the AIDS Fund. I’m all for good causes, especially the AIDS Fund and supporting it  so I’m always glad to purchase anything from Mac’s Viva Glam line.
Nicki Minaj did pair with Mac last year for a very limited edition lipstick called Pink Friday so it was no surprise that Nicki’s lipstick this time around would be pink as well. Ricky Martin’s lip product is a lip conditioner in a tube. You can’t go wrong with a good lip conditioner, and again, I don’t mind paying $15 for it since all of that money goes to a good cause.
All Viva Glam products by Mac can be purchased online and in-store at either a Freestanding Mac store or a Mac counter. Nicki Minaj’s lipstick is $14.50 and Ricky Martin’s lip conditioner is $15.

As always, or I guess as with recent Viva Glam collaborations, the signature of the celebrity is embossed on both the boxes and the packaging of the actual product in red shiny writing. The lipstick has a black signature around the neck of the tube…. it’s difficult to photograph that so I didn’t but, here’s the Ricky Martin up close:

Viva Glam Nicki is a bright slightly red toned medium pink color. It’s a Satin finish. It’s much much more wearable for me than Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday (which I didn’t purchase) or Viva Glam Gaga (which was a horrible candy pink that I can’t wear but bought anyways). It’s actually a good toned pink since I feel like a lot of skin tones can wear it. I think that’s the benefit of having somebody with a deeper skin tone collaborate with Mac. Viva Glam Gaga was pretty… but not for me. I feel like really pale and really deep skin tones look beautiful in candy pinks but that whole range of mediums have a lot of people that don’t feel pretty wearing it. At least I didn’t. I looked weird. The brightness and punchiness of this pink also make it very on trend for lipsticks this spring.
Ricky Martin’s lip conditioner is a clear conditioner that smells like vanilla. It reminds me of the suntint lip balms that came out with Surf Baby (and I’ve lost mine and I’m annoyed by that lol). There isn’t much to say about it. It feels nice on the lips though.
I’m excited to use both products though, especially as the weather gets warmer.
