Mac came out with another collaboration collection, this time with DC Comics. The collection features Wonder Woman (obviously) and all the colors are based off of her character.
I’m a big comic book fan, but haven’t actually read many Wonder Woman novels.
The interesting thing about this collection is that it comes with “super sized” products. The lipglosses, mineralized skin finishes and blushes were all super sized. Because of that, the products are also priced much higher.
There were lots of brights in the collection, which basically meant that I didn’t buy very much… I’m making sure that I don’t over spend by not buying products I’m never going to use.
Like many of the collaborations that Mac does, the packaging was all themed.
The collection came with brush sets, pigments, bags, eye shadow quads, lip sticks, glosses, nail polishes, mineralize skin finishes, and blushes.
As much as I loved the concept of this collection, I couldn’t bring myself to get the jumbo sized face products… I have yet to finish any of the other Mac products I own and buying a product with more in it just seemed like a waste to me. Especially because of how HUGE they are. The mineralize skin finishes are pretty much the size of my palm. And that’s the product itself, not including the packaging. The pricing really wasn’t an issue because per oz, you were actually paying way less than a regularly sized item. What I ended up purchasing were just lip products… 3 glosses and a lipstick. For me the jumbo sized lip products weren’t that big of a deal because I go through lip products easily.Packaging
The lip products all came with an outer sheath with Wonder Woman and a blue and white star pattern on the inside. The box itself was red. I thought that part of the packaging was fantastic. I always think Mac does a better job with the cardboard packaging than the actual product packaging.
The products were made with the shiny plastic, as seen in Venomous Villains and Liberty of London. It’s actually a lot better than Venomous Villains was, because those looked just silly. These don’t look as “made for children” as those did.
The jumbo sized glosses are HUGE. It’s almost overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to apply the color. Below is a picture comparing the size of a regular Mac Lipglass and one of the Wonder Woman Lipglasses:
The size extends to the brush as well. The brush of the WW glosses is beyond two times bigger than the regular glosses. It’s almost too big to apply onto my lips. And I have very full lips. The sponge is a little bit more stiff than the regular ones as well.
The decals on the actual tube itself don’t seem like they’re going to peel, but I can see it flaking off like the Liberty of London lip glasses do… after throwing one of those in my bag for about 2 weeks, the decals started to just flake off and get everywhere. And I can see that easily happening with these.
The top of the brush is a nice red aluminum. I think it adds a nice touch to the product.
Athena’s Kiss Lip Glass
Athena’s Kiss is a nice warm magenta with the slightest shimmer in it. It’s the most pigmented of the three glosses I got. It’s definitely not a color that I’d wear often… It’s something I’d layer on top of a really nude lipstick to help amp up the nude and dim down the pink.
Emancipation Lip Glass
Emancipation is the most shimmery of the glosses. It’s a peachy nude, with a slight frost and a warm shimmer in it. This is the one that I’d wear the most, probably on it’s own because it’s pretty pigmented. I wouldn’t pile it on though because I’m not the biggest fan of frosty lip glosses.
Wonder Woman Lip Glass
Like every collection, if there’s a red lip product, I purchase it. Not that I use them often, but I just love red lip products. This is probably the most frivolous purchase. It’s a lighter red than some of the other red lip products I’ve purchased. I don’t feel like it’s as rich as some of the other red products that have been released by Mac. It goes on a little sheer when you swipe it onto the lips… as a swatch it looks like a nice rich red but it doesn’t apply like that. It’s pretty neutral, doesn’t seem to obviously lean warm or cool. It also has a slight gold shimmer to it.

Marquise D’ Lipstick
Of the lipsticks released with the collection, this is the only one that really caught my eye. It’s a nice nude with a little bit of shimmer to it and is a Lustre finish. It’s a repromote so It’s not a completely new release.
On me it gives a slight shimmer and a slight tint. It’s an extremely wearable color, which is why so many people went and got back ups of this lipstick when Wonder Woman first released. I love the lipstick but it’s not entirely unique… these nude colors are made by every brand. It’s a very nice color though.
