Today (well when I first filmed this) I started to embark in a new series. I briefly talked about this in my FOTD post for 8/31 but I’ll just recap those who didn’t read that.
I have a few series of tutorials going right now… Flowers, Birthstones and Celebrities. I’ve decided that Flowers are going to be more bold, colorful looks (and they’ll also expand into other plants, trees etc), Birthstones will be mostly frosty looks, and then Celebrities will be just that… whatever ads, redcarpet looks and such that are beautiful or inspiring to me.
The reason I’ve decided to start NHL teams is because I just love hockey. They’re also going to be my more wearable looks. Team looks are always hard to do because team colors are generally difficult to use colors. Like red and blue. Or red and white (ohhhhhhhh can’t wait for Detroit Red Wings day).

This is the first in the series, the Anaheim Ducks. I’m going to go through them alphabetically, and the sources I’m using are wikipedia and the NHL website. I promise you for all of these looks I will try and look through the actual team sites for the team color info and such, but so far it’s been difficult to do. I guess team sites just don’t list miscellaneous info like that? And I guess people who are fans of each team already know their team colors so really, they wouldn’t need to list it? Nonetheless, I will be pulling from wikipedia because a) I assume that the team representatives have input most of the information on the site and b) it’s just the easy way to find that info.
How I come up with looks are based on team colors as well as jersey/mascot inspiration. Some will reflect the jersey more, some will reflect the mascot, some will reflect the actual team colors listed. This one is one that reflects the team colors listed, as the jerseys are either white or black, and the orange isn’t a very prominent color in either jersey.

So. Enough explanation, here are pics and the actual look!

Anaheim Ducks
Team Colors: Black, Metallic Gold, Orange
I basically made a really simple, really wearable smokey eye. I used a metallic gold in the inner corner, a metallicy orange in the center of the lid and then smoked it out with a black in the outer corner and crease. I then just lined with black and smudged it out just a tiny bit.
The face I left really simple with just some contouring and a light blush, then a nude lip.

Here’s what I used:
– Smashbox Eye Shadow Primer
– Bare Study Paint Pot
– Mac Eye Shadow, Patina. Mac 239 Brush.
– Mac Eye Shadow, Woodwinked. Mac 239.
– Coastal Scents 88 Eye Shadow Palette, mixed orange. Mac 239.
– Coastal Scents 88 Eye Shadow Palette, matte black. Loew Cornell Maxine’s Mop 1/4 brush, Sigma 217
– Mac Feline Kohl Power Eye Pencil
– Mac Eye Shadow, Rice Paper. Loew Cornell Maxine’s Mop 1/2 brush.
– Benefit Bad Gal Lash
– Benefit Hoola, Sigma F45
– Benefit Dandelion & Georgia, Sigma SS168
– Nude lipgloss.
